I truly believe that Art is for Everyone. I am really happy to share my Art Experiences with students at the Dover-Eyota High School/Middle School. I graduated with my Art Degree from Winona State University and I achieved my Masters Degree from St. Mary's University. I am married and have 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy. My hobbies have included but not limited to the creation of Art.

Art Philosophy
High School:
We believe that each student is unique in his or her creative ability, and when motivated each person can grow and develop into a more rounded individual.
We also believe that...
Art can and should be for everyone
Art enhances cultural and historical experiences
Art builds skills such as critical thinking and problem solving.
Art can be a positive form of self expression
Therefore, we will accept any student at their personal ability level and help to develop their potential.
The visual arts are a means to express creativity, communication and self-expression; regardless of the student's background, talents or ability level. We believe that Art Education should be a process along with product oriented. The outcomes are designed so that the knowledge, skills and attitudes learned and developed will transition into a basis for life and learning.
Art Education enhances the learner's ability to problem solve while developing their critical and creative thinking skills. Students will develop a respect and appreciation for the ideas and creations of others as well as form an understanding of how it affects everyone's lives.
Middle School:
The middle school Art Department bridges the gap between Elementary and High School. The department's function is to continue to develop the student's creative abilities, instill an enthusiasm and appreciation of the visual arts, and to develop the skills necessary for self-expression. Through Art experiences, a student continues to build skills such as Critical Thinking and Creative Problem Solving. Art is a confidence building process that can provide the student with a greater self-confidence, thus greater self-esteem.
Due to the limited time available with each student, it is realistic only to touch upon the basic Elements and Principles of Art. This Art Curriculum is a sampling of artist's methods, materials, skills and techniques rather than an in-depth study.
