San Bartolome High School was established in 1992 as an annex of Novaliches High School to address the growing student population in the Bagbag-San Bartolome-Gulod Area of Quezon City. The original site was utilized until the establishment of Quezon City University (formerly Quezon City Polytechnic University) in 1994.
As the Novaliches community expanded in the late 1990s to early 2000s, the school's rapid growth led to calls for independence. In 2002 the City Ordinance No. SP1169, s. 2002, authored by City Councilors Allan Butch T. Francisco, Eric Z. Medina, Restituto B. Malañgen, and Ramon P. Medalla granting the annex's independence from Novaliches High School was passed, thus renaming it San Bartolome High School.
The school diversified its curricular offerings over the years, evolving from a regular high school program to introducing Alternative Learning System, Open High School Program, Home-based Learning Programs, Special Science Classes, and Foreign Language courses.
To accommodate the increasing student population, additional buildings were constructed in 2009 (SB2 Building) and 2013 (HB Building) during the tenures of Mayors Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte and Herbert Bautista, respectively. In 2018, the Mathay 2 Building was demolished and replaced with a larger one in preparation for the Senior High School courses.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 led to the adoption of online and blended modalities for the school years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. Virtual Commencement Exercises and other activities were conducted as the school faced lockdowns and restrictions due to its proximity to the Hope 2 Quarantine Facility.
Despite the challenges, Senior High School levels officially commenced in 2021, offering Academic and Technical, Vocational and Livelihood tracks, with the Sports track added the following year.
In line of then-government's program to reintroduce face-to-face classes after the pandemic, limited sessions were held in April 2022. However, blended learning modes remained until May 2024 owing to large student population. Full-scale implementation of face-to-face classes was achieved in August 2024.
With the current transition to MATATAG Curriculum, San Bartolome High School remains committed to providing quality education at both the Junior and Senior High School levels.
