Early pregnancy among adolescents is caused by complex and interrelated factors, which includes:
LACK OF SEX EDUCATION - not being aware of own sexuality
PEER PRESSURE - being surrounded by wrong peer influences
FAMILY FACTORS - Lack of parental guidance/ dysfunctional family
POVERTY AND LOW ECONOMIC STATUS - limited access to health and education
CULTURAL AND SOCIAL NORMS - feeling that it has become a common practice
WRONG MEDIA INFLUENCES - Exposure to negative or sexual content
SUBSTANCE USE - drinking of alcoholic drinks, cigarette use and other substances
SEXUAL ABUSE OR COERCION - rape cases and other sexual violence
Too early pregnancy puts the young mother and her baby at risk of health complications and even death.
