Project GREEN: Growing Responsible Environmental Education Network
In today's world, the call for environmental consciousness and sustainability has become more urgent than ever before. As young leaders and advocates for change, the Supreme Elementary Learners Government (SELG) officers of Sepung Calzada Panampunan Elementary School recognize the critical importance of instilling eco-friendly habits and values among students.
Project GREEN: Growing Responsible Environmental Education Network, emerges as a comprehensive response to this pressing need. This initiative not only aligns with the core values of the Department of Education (DepEd), specifically the value of "Makakalikasan," but it also embodies the ethos of SELG to lead by example and empower fellow learners to become stewards of the environment.
Project GREEN comprises a series of interconnected initiatives, each designed to address specific environmental challenges while fostering a culture of sustainability within our school community.
G: "Go Paperless" Initiative (Project HUB)
The online bulletin, Project HUB, serves as a central platform for disseminating information, reducing paper waste, and promoting digital literacy among students.
R: "Responsible Cleanup Crew" (Eco-boys Club)
The Eco-boys Club, composed of dedicated male students from grades 4 to 6, takes on the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within our school grounds. Through their efforts, they not only beautify our surroundings but also cultivate a sense of pride and ownership among all learners.
E: "Environmental Stewards" (Weekly Clean up and recycling of SELG & YES-O)
By learning about sustainable agricultural practices, they contribute to our school's green initiatives while gaining valuable skills in organic farming.
E: "Encouraging Eco-Friendly Habits" (Project BASO)
The Project BASO initiated by YES-O where they will sell a washable plastic cup to learners and will be use when they will buy drinks in the school canteen to avoid using disposable plastic cups.
N: "Networking for Sustainability" (Integration of all initiatives)
Project GREEN integrates these initiatives into a cohesive network, creating a web of environmentally conscious practices within our school. By connecting these efforts, we aim to amplify their impact and inspire a generation of learners committed to protecting our planet.
(Hyperlinked Universal Bulletin)
Project HUB (Hyperlinked Universal Bulletin) was introduced by the Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG) to enhance communication and information sharing within the school. It serves as a modern alternative to traditional bulletin boards by using a digital platform accessible through a QR code, allowing students, teachers, parents, and visitors to stay updated anytime and anywhere.
Now being implemented for three consecutive school years, Project HUB has become an essential tool in promoting transparency and engagement in school activities. It also supports the school’s environmental advocacy by reducing paper use and operational costs, contributing to sustainability while keeping stakeholders informed efficiently.
The website is continuously monitored and improved to ensure that all content remains accurate, timely, and relevant. This ongoing enhancement reflects the school’s commitment to innovation and digital literacy, ensuring that Project HUB remains a reliable and evolving communication channel for the entire school community.
