Rodel T. Villanueva, Head Teacher III, Gaddanan Elementary School

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the relationship between the educational profile of San Mateo North District teachers and their instructional competence. The respondents were 30 teachers from the four (4) schools of San Mateo North District during the SY 2020-2021. It used a descriptive-correlational design where results revealed a very strong relationship between teachers’ highest training attended and their instructional competence (r=.89). Moreover, results showed a strong relationship between the highest educational attainment of the teachers and their instructional competence (r=.73). In addition, age (r=.20) and teaching position (r=.38) had no significant relationship to the instructional competence of the teachers. Based on the drawn results, suggestions for more strengthening and reinforcement in terms of content knowledge and management of class behavior should be considered. It is also recommended that internal and external stakeholders strengthen the support system for the teachers.
