ABSTRACT

The level of competence in guiding and counseling among 81 classroom teachers serving as guidance counselors in the Mallig District was the main subject of this study. Data regarding the characteristics of teachers and how their profile relates to their competency level were gathered using a descriptive survey questionnaire. The results indicated that teachers demonstrate competencies in professional practice, academic development, knowledge, management, delivery & and collaboration, and consultation. The knowledge, accountability assessment, and evaluation of teachers are found to be developing toward competency. The study also showed that there is no significant correlation between an individual's degree of competence in guidance and counseling and their age, gender, years spent teaching, or educational achievement. Nonetheless, their degree of competency is strongly correlated with the instruction they received. Based on the results, it is strongly advised that all classroom teachers be provided with training, with a focus on the identified areas of weakness, to enhance and fortify school guidance counseling services and better meet the psychological requirements of students.
