ABSTRACT

Enhancing the retention skills in learning 'Sinaunang Kabihasnan sa Daigdig' through the SCOT Strategy is a crucial life skill. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the SCOT (Simulation on Cooperative Timeline-Making) strategy in improving the mastery level of Grade 8 students studying 'Sinaunang Kabihasnan ng Daigdig' at Raniag High School. A pre-experimental research design, specifically the one-group pre-test and post-test design was utilized, with 45 students as respondents chosen through total enumeration, a non-probability sampling technique. Through the use of mean, standard deviation, paired samples t-test, and Cohen’s D, it was revealed that their mastery level significantly improved using the intervention from low mastery (M=9.67; SD=6.27) to nearing mastery (M=15.29; SD=6.53), showing a significant difference (t=14.29) and large effect size (D=0.88) with a p-value of 0.000. Therefore, it is recommended that this intervention be sustained and shared with other teachers.
