ABSTRACT

This action research was conducted to test the effectiveness of the Learning Activity Sheet titled "Gas Laws: Boyle's and Charles's" in improving the academic performance of students on the selected learning competency in Science 10. A quasi-experimental research design was utilized consisting of 90 Grade-10 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Independent samples t-test was used to compare the mean gain scores between the groups and the effect size was evaluated following Cohen's D guidelines. Results revealed that the experimental group had a higher gain score than the control group. There was also a significant difference in gain scores between the two groups. Furthermore, the intervention had a Cohen's D value of 0.798 which implied there was a large effect on respondents' understanding of the Gas Laws. Moreover, respondents strongly agree that the LAS helped them master the learning competency. Based on the findings, it is recommended that the learning activity sheet "Gas Laws: Boyle's and Charles's Laws" should be used as supplementary material in Science 10.
