Rhona May L. Lopez, Teacher III, Sinamar Elementary School

ABSTRACT

This study determined the impact of RACCE Strategy (Read, Answer, Connect and Check, Evaluate) in the English oral reading performance of the Grade 6 pupils at Sinamar Elementary School, Roxas West District. Specifically, it determines the mean of Philippine Informal Reading Inventory or Phil-IRI pre-test and post-test scores and the significant difference between them. One group pre-test post-test research design was employed. The statistical tools used are Mean, Standard Deviation, and Paired Samples t-test. The result of the study on implementing the intervention revealed a marginal improvement in the English oral reading performance of the respondents as it elevated the reading performance of the pupils from Frustration to Instructional and independent. It is implied that RACCE Strategy is an effective intervention in enriching the reading performance of the Grade 6 pupils. The overall results indicated a significant difference between the respondents’ Phil-IRI pre-test and postttest scores. It is recommended that RACCE Strategy should be improved and further studied.
