Belinda R. Matias, Principal I, Alicia West Central School

ABSTRACT

This study attempted to determine the problems encountered by the Alicia South District teachers in lesson planning for the School Year 2019-2020 and the suggested solutions as it employed a descriptive survey method to describe their profile, their problems met in writing lesson plans and the possible solutions. The data were collected from 34 teacher-respondents with the use of a research questionnaire. Results show that teachers encountered problems in lesson planning which they considered writing the “Reflection” part of the Daily Lesson Plan/Log as the “Very Serious” problems among the twelve identified. From the findings of the study, the researcher strongly recommends that schools’ District should take initiative in crafting prototype DLL to reduce paper works of teachers. The Department of Education (DepEd) has to prioritize the provision of adequate supply of textbooks, curriculum guides, teaching devices and audio-visual aids that are designed to improve instruction and lighten the problems encountered by teachers in lesson planning. Teachers should be given opportunities to attend higher levels of in-service training in the Regional or National Levels to enhance teachers’ understanding of the curriculum and improve teachers’ competence in lesson planning. The Learning Development Plan should be implemented for the improvement of teachers’ competence in lesson planning.
