The FBO (Food and Beverage Operation) track is a technical-vocational specialization within Home Economics that provides students with training on the operation of food and beverage services. It involves training on skills such as setting up tables, receiving orders, and providing customer service in the restaurant and hospitality areas of the industry.

The history of Food and Beverage Services is closely linked to the development of Home Economics under Technical Vocational Livelihood. This part of Technical Vocational Livelihood includes areas like garments, tourism, health, processed food and beverages and community development services.

When schools started implementing the K to 12 program they had to choose areas of Home Economics to focus on based on what they had available what industries needed and who they had to teach. And Food and Beverage Services became very popular along with cooking and baking.

The curriculum for Home Economics was made to include classes that all senior high school students take, along with hands-on classes that meet certain requirements and follow the competency standards of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. For Food and Beverage Services the classes were designed to help students learn how to serve food and drinks to people in kinds of establishments and students who pass get a National Certificate that says they are qualified to work as waiters or food servers.

Because the standards for Food and Beverage Services are based on the National Certificate system and not on school grades. The Curriculum has been updated over time to match new requirements, from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for the hospitality industry. So schools that teach Food and Beverage Services have to regularly update their programs to keep their accreditation.
