History of Nueva Ecija High School

At the turn of the 20th century, the Government of the Philippine Islands reorganized. In 1901, by virtue of the U.S. Philippine Commission Act No. 74, the Department of Public Instruction was organized. Thereafter, Act No. 373 was enacted with provisions concerning schools for secondary instructions. This enabled the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija to establish the provincial high school in the town of San Isidro. Nueva Ecija High School, formally opened on June 1, 1902. The initial enrollment was 58, students were taught by two American teachers. In 1905, the Provincial Government under Acting Gov. Crispulo Sedeco obtained P 7,500 loan to construct a permanent classroom building.
In 1921, the construction of the now-familiar landmark, Arch. Tomas Mapua designed-Neo-classical school building began. The two-story concrete classroom structure was completed in 1927 as Nueva Ecija High School transferred to its present campus in Cabanatuan City.
The first Principal of the Nueva Ecija High School was C.D. Schell. The incumbent Secondary School Principal is Lorenzo P. Joaquin.
