ALS LEARNING                 STRANDS

The ALS Program focuses on the following Learning Strands:

These six areas are incorporated into the curriculum to provide students with both intellectual and practical skills that will help them become well-rounded learners whom they can use in the workplace and in their daily lives.

Although it is not an exact replica of the formal school curriculum, the ALS Program employs a contextualized non-formal curriculum that is broadly aligned with the K–12 Curriculum for Basic Education. While not exact, it is aligned. This incorporates the learners' past learning and translates functional literacy indicators into six interconnected learning strands.
