In line with the Nationwide Celebration of the National Reading Month, Gulod Malaya Elementary School conducted different reading activities last November 29, 2019. The celebration aimed to;
a. Support the DepEd ten-Point Agenda 2017-2022 entitled Quality, Accessible, Relevant and Liberating Basic Education for All, and
b. Strengthen the DepEd’s ‘’Every Child a Reader Program’’, making every Filipino child a competent reader and writer appropriate for his/her grade level.
For smooth flow of this National Reading Month Celebration, the Culminating Program was divided into two, one in the morning at 8:00 AM to 11:00AM for Primary Levels and the other one, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for Intermediate Level. To showcase the different story characters, a costume parade ramp was included in the program.
In the celebration of the Feast of Nuestra Señora De Aranzazu and the Kakanin Festival, San Mateo declared as non-working holiday. This is to give the people the chance to come and join this yearly event throughout the day. These two events were celebrated last September 9, 2019. With this, Gulod Malaya Elementary School teachers, school head and Drum and Lyre pupils actively participated the said event.
Festivities started with a morning mass as a sign of devotion and thanksgiving to Nuestra Señora De Aranzazu. And it was followed by a program. Hon. Cristina C. Diaz, Gov. Rebecca Ynarez and with our special guest Sen. Koko Pimentel gave their inspirational messages in the program relatively to the said event.
Afterwards, colorful Disney Float parades were presented by different barangays. Mickey and Minnie Mouse themed by Brgy. Gulod Malaya headed by Brgy. Captain Rodolfo Canoy. The barangay officials, employees of barangay, teachers, pupils and some parents joined the parade with suits of Mickey Mouse shirts and headgear. Bright colors and smiles became more evident and the streets have always been loud of joys and praises especially the kids. After the parade, GMES Drum and Lyre Competition won as 3rd place in the 2019 Kakanin Festival. This celebration was made possible and successful with the full support of the Mayor, Hon. Cristina C. Diaz and people of San Mateo who not only cherishes the many traditions held by the municipality but also values the welfare of each other.
Nagkaroon ng maikling palatuntunan sa paaralan tungkol sa Pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa noong ika-30 ng Agosto, 2019. Sa pamumuno at paggabay ng punong-guro na si Gng. Ma. Jennifer C. Bive at sa pangunguna ng gurong tagapagugnay sa Filipino na si Gng. Mercy C. Ombac, naisagawa ng maayos ang nasabing palatuntunan. Lahat ng mag-aaral ay nakiisa sa pag-alala sa kahalagahan nang ating wikang pambansa.
Bilang pagsisimula, nagbigay ng mensahe si Gng Vilma Cabungan, OIC ng paaralan. Ipinarating niya sa mga mag-aaral na kahit magkakaiba ang mga linguwahe ng mga Pilipino may Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Bisaya, Tagalog at iba pa tayo ay iisa at nagkakaisa para sa ikauunlad ng ating bansa. Hindi ito hadlang upang makamit natin ang inaasam na pagkakaisa.
Nagpakitang gilas din ang mga mag-aaral ng iba’t-ibang talento. Ang mga mag-aaral sa ika – limang baitang ay nagpakita ng kanilang gilas sa pagsayaw ng Ba-Engles na pinamunuan ni Gng. Salvacion C. Corral, MAPEH District Coordinator. Si Zoey Nama at si Mathew Nares na kapwa nagmula sa ika – limang baitang ay naghatid ng malambing na awiting pilipino. Ang lahat ay naaliw at naisiyahan sa kanilang ipinamalas na galing.
Sa ikalawang bahagi ng palatuntunan, iginawad nina Gng. Cabungan at Gng. Ombac ang sertipiko ng mga nagwagi sa iba't ibang patimpalak tulad ng Magtunugan Tayo para sa Kinder Level, Iispel Mo mula sa Unang Baitang hanggang sa Ika-Anim na Baitang at ang Muling Pagkukwento ng Baitang lima at Baitang anim na isinagawa noong mga nakaraang araw sa bulwagan ng barangay.
Sa huling bahagi ng programa nagpasalamat si Ginang Mercy C. Ombac sa mga magulang at sa mga magaaral na sumali at nakilahok sa mga patimpalak at dumalo sa programang ito. Nagpasalamat din siya sa mga guro na nagsilbing gabay sa mga mag-aaral upang sila ay maihanda bago sila sumabak sa patimpalak.
Natapos ang programa na may ngiti, saya at pagasa na hindi lamang sa araw na ito magugunita ang kahalagahan ng wika ngunit maiiwan ito sa mga puso ng sino mang gumagamit nito.
The Department of Health (DOH) had a nationwide campaign on the School-based Immunization (SBI) and continued promoting to the mothers to avail the government’s free immunization program. This will provide the children from diseases preventable by vaccines. This includes MRTD, HPV and Measles Rubella.
In connection to this, the Gulod Malaya Elementary School as a public institution adheres to this campaign.
There was an orientation on school-based immunization program conducted on August 19, 2019 at exactly 9:00 am held at the school ground.
In celebration of the 2019 National Disaster Resilience Month with the theme, “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para Tunay na Pagbabago’’, Gulod Malaya Elementary School enjoined to conduct different activities relative to disaster risk reduction and management from July 1-31, 2019. This aimed to increase the disaster resilience of everyone most especially in schools.
Pursuant to DepEd no. 28 s 2018: Policy and Guidelines on Oplan Kalusugan sa Department of Education (OK sa DepEd) One Health Week” state that one health week shall conducted every second week of July, and Department memorandum No. 83 s. 2019 entitled “Oplan Kalusugan sa DepEd One Health Week.” The Gulod Malaya Elementary School shall initiate the conduct to a Kick-Off Activity on July 24, 2019.
Under the Presidential Decree 491 in 1974, it was declared that the Nutrition Month Celebration should be held every July to disseminate awareness to all Filipinos on the importance of nutrition. In line with this, the Department of Education released the DepEd Memorandum No. 082 s. 2019, which adheres to the nationwide campaign, the 2019 Nutrition Month Celebration.The National Nutrition Council (NCC) was assigned to take the lead in this nationwide campaign.
In similar way, the Gulod Malaya Elementary School as a public institution and under the Department of Education, adheres to this nationwide campaign. The school organized month-long activities in connection to the theme, “Kumain ng wasto at maging aktibo, push natin to.” The theme encourages everyone to advocate and realize the importance of healthy diets, increased physical activity and reduced sedentary behavior.
Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 54, s. 2009 entitled “Revised Guidelines Governing Parents-Teachers Associations (PTAs) at the School Level”, the school should conduct an organization of Homeroom PTA’s and election of their officers from among the parents within fifteen (15) days from the start of the school year. While the election of the members of the Board of Directors from among the elected Homeroom Presidents and Homeroom Advisers shall be held within 30 days from the start of the school year. Therefore, as a general policy of the DepEd, the school administered the election of officers through the Homeroom Advisers of each class.
The very purpose for such policy of organizing PTA elections is to have a free avenue wherein the teachers and the parents initiate, plan and discuss the possible projects and organize school-related activities to uplift the school environment and more importantly the conditions that promotes better learning for our children. It also builds a strong partnership among parents, teachers and the school to fully realize the goal of the institution, ensure the quality education among learners.
In connection with this, the school held its oath taking and induction of the newly elected PTA Officers on July 20, 2019, Saturday, exactly 8:00 am, at the Marvi Hills, Multi-Purpose Hall, Gulod Malya, San Mateo, Rizal. The first part of the said event was the registration of the PTA Officers as well as the teachers. It was administered by the Kindergarten teachers through the leadership of Ms. Rosalinda Casiano.
Gulod Malaya Elementary School conducted its General Assembly on May 31,2019 at exactly8:00 in the morning. This is to orient the parents of our learners about do’s and don’ts in our school which will guide them properly and be organized.
The program was hosted by Miss Rosalinda Casiano ,kinder teacher. It started with the singing of our National Anthem which was conducted by Mrs. Mary Angelic Rastica and followed by a prayer led by Mrs. Shirly S. Llemos. Roll call was done very lively by Mrs. Juvelyn Liwanag, teachers and parents for each grade level danced as they were called. After our kind and loving principal , Mrs. Jennifer C. Bive gave her opening remarks , different topics were discussed. Mrs. Juvelyn Cagabhion discussed about School Rules and Policies together with Proper Dress Code. Mrs. Vilma Cabungan explained the Municipal Ordinance no.21 s.2017 which was about Parental Negligence which is very essential for the parents to be aware of it. Then , Deped Order No. 3 s. 2018 , the Enrolment Policy was discussed by Mrs. Emelyn M. Rosendo , followed by School Forms and Citizens Charter by Mrs. Mercy Ombac . The DepEd Order No. 8 s.2015 or the Grading System was explained by Mrs. Rhodora R. Wein. Mrs. Juvelyn F. Liwanag talked about Authorized Collections and the Zero Collection Policy. Then , programs and projects was discussed by Miss Sheryl T. Vestoso while Mrs. Almira Sabelino talked about 4P’s. Lastly, the teaching staff and non teaching personnel were presented by Mrs. Jennifer C. Bive.
After the program, parents went to their children’s respective classrooms for the distribution of books.
Having this general assembly , we expect that everything will be done smoothly in the opening of classes on June 3, 2019.
Brigada Eskwela is very beneficial to school community most especially to school head, teachers and learners. Gone are the days in the life of public school sector that opening classes is the also start of cleaning, decorating and preparing classroom and school. The said event is a National Week maintenance that aims to bring together all teachers, non-teaching staff, parents, pupils, alumni, barangay officials, NGO’s, other government agencies, and all other stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort, and resources to prepare the school for the opening of school year. This year’s theme of Brigada Eskwela says “Matatag na Bayan Para sa Maunlad na Paaralan” held last May 20-25, 2019. With this, the planning was a month ahead of the activity by Katherine Claire V. Hernandez, Brigada Eskwela Coordinator with the guidance and supervision of Mrs. Ma. Jennifer C. Bive, school principal. Task were designated to faculty members, solicitation and invitation letter were printed and distributed to different stakeholders. Some responded and gave their material and cash support.
Leadership is not about a title or a designation. A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way. It is not practiced not so much in words but in attitude and in actions. This was the legacy left to us by our former administrator Dr. Marlon S. Marquez. His 2 years, 1 month and 6 days of commitment with this institution, the Gulod Malaya Elementary School, has formally come to an end.
Last October 26, 2018 the Gulod Malaya Elementary School teaching force together with some of the teachers of Banaba Elementary School witnessed the Turn-over Ceremony between the two highly proficient heads, Dr. Marlon S. Marquez and Mrs. Ma . Jennifer C. Bive.
School Heads come and go, they left us nothing but experiences, learning and fruitful memories. Deep within our hearts, from the teaching and non-teaching staff, it will never be a goodbye but a “thank you”.
To ensure the continuity of the implementation of the Early Language, Literacy and Numeracy (ELLN) Program, the Department of Education (DepEd) remains steadfast in strengthening its reading and literacy program through the implementation of the Pedagogical Retooling in Mathematics, Languages and Science (PRIMALS) Program.
The purpose of this Program is to develop in Filipino children their communicative, scientific, and mathematical skills and attitudes which will contribute to lifelong learning. More specifically, it aims to enhance the reading and literacy skills of Grade 4 to 6 learners in English and Filipino as well as in other content areas such as Mathematics and Science by establishing a sustainable and cost-effective professional development system for teachers
The objectives of this training are to: a. enhance the content knowledge, pedagogical skills and attitudes in in teaching Grades 4 to 6 Mathematics, Languages (English and Filipino) and Science; b. improve ability to assess learners’ reading and literacy skills; and c. sustain commitment in mentoring/sharing of teaching experiences to improve instruction and learning outcomes. 5. Sports is the one way not only to show the skills of the students but also develop the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among individuals.
To strengthened the sports program and pursuant to Republic Act No. 10588, an Act Institutionalizing the Conduct of the Palarong Pambansa and Appropriating Funds thereof, the 2018 Provincial (Division) Meet with the theme “Team Rizal: Empowering the Spirit of a Champion” was held last October 22-26, 2018 at Marikina Sports Center, Marikina.
The sports activity was participated by regular students, Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners, students with disability (SPED) and Indigenous People (IPs) learners. Here are the different games that happened in Provincial Meet.
Research is important in contributing knowledge development, improvement and information. Therefore, research findings can improve the competences and teaching and learning process. Through this improvement, Gulod Malaya ES actively participated and able to present in this Research Day with the theme “ Innovation is the key to future, but basic research is the key to future innovation”. Dr. Marlon Marquez headed as the panelists together with Allan S. Dagong, DEAR Team Chairperson and Edline Rose V. Cura, GMES SEARCH Chairperson. Ayon sa Komisyoner ng KWF, ang tema ay kumikilala sa Wikang Filipino bilang midyum sa paglikha at pagpapalaganap ng pambansang karunungan at kaunlaran lalo na sa agham at matematika.
Ang Paaralang Elementarya ng Gulod Malaya ay nakiisa sa adhikaing ito at ipinagdiwang noong ika-31 ng Agosto 2018. May maikling palatuntunan at patimpalak na ginawa gaya ng paggawa ng poster at pagsulat ng islogan.
Natapos ang palatuntunan ng masaya ang bawat isa lalo na ang mga bata. Naipaliwanag sa kanila ang kahalagan ng Wikang Filipino. Naipaunawa sa kanila na dapat mahalin ang ating wika ng buong puso!
Basic math skills are mastered in elementary school. They are based mainly on proficiency in basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. In line with this, Gulod Malaya ES headed by Dr. Marlon S. Marquez initiated this Digital Math Drill to familiarize pupils of four fundamental operations.
Math teachers from Grades 1-6 demonstrated the digital math drill last July 16, 2018. The following teachers were the representative on these critiquing digital samples:

This Digital Math Drill is being done every day by the Math teachers before they start their lessons and it helps a lot to achieve pupils’ progress.
The Department of Health (DOH) is set to hold a month-long mass drug administration activity in July among all public and private school students aged one to eighteen to combat schistosomiasis and other parasitic diseases. The DOH said, they will once again conduct the program and this will include not only intestinal worms but schictosomiasis. The Department Of Health decided to do it simultaneously. We are doing it every month of January And July.
Gulod Malaya Elementary School conducted the school based Deworming Day last July 16,2017 at Gulod Malaya Elementary School to all levels from Kinder up to grade 6 pupils and to those beneficiaries of the 4p’s members . Shirly Llemos, School Clinic Coordinator together with Farrah Dela Cruz, a nurse who facilitates and gave deworming pill to the pupils. Only 204 pupils got dewormed due to refusal of the parents and the bad weather that we encountered during the day.
Stakeholders play a vital role in making the school a successful one. They help the school principal and teachers to find ways to make the school and its clientele the best they can be. As had been set, the oath taking ceremonies of the GPTA and the Homeroom PTA officers took place smoothly as planned.
Gulod Malaya ES conducted an oath taking ceremony on 14th day of July, 2018 held at Marvi Hills Covered Court and started at 1:00 in the afternoon. Then it was followed by an oath taking of newly elected officers, led by Dr. Marlon S. Marquez, Kgwd. Joel Perez, Kgwd. Eulogio Muyco and Mr. Norbie Rivera
Indeed, the event was a success for all the GPTA/HRPTA whom solemnly pledge that on that day begins the challenge of being a good leader from a classroom to a bigger involvement in the society in the future. Congratulations newly elected ones!
In preparation for the so called the “big one”, and in relative to the Memorandum No. 76 s.2017 from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Gulod Malaya Elementary School participated on the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) last June 21, 2018 at exactly 2:00 PM. The said drill was done to monitor or test the readiness of the school.
Pupils from kinder to grade six , teaching and non-teaching personnel participated in the drill as shown in their line formation and did the duck, cover and hold on their way to their designated areas. Teachers were also ready in taking charge of their learners with special needs and bought with them their Students’ Tracking Form as well as their medical kit or first aid kit for the emergency purposes.
To sum up the said activity Gulod Malaya Elementary School had successfully conducted its Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill with no injuries.
