"EMPOWERING MINDS, ENRICHING FUTURES: QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL"
ENHANCED SDO BATANGAS PROVINCE'S CHARACTER BASED PROGRAM,: RETROSPECT BATANG BATANGUENO
In accordance with the Basic Education Curriculum (RA 10533), Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao Curriculum, the standard of functional literacy is to acquire the skill of decisiveness to act with responsibility for the good of everyone. This means that EsP aims to develop and master the ethical beings of the learners. EsP aims to guide learners to seek the meaning of life, their role in society, and help in building a community which upholds truth, freedom, justice, and love. To showcase this, the learner must have the 5 main macro skills in EsP: understanding, reflecting, consulting, deciding and acting.
The Archdiocese of Lipa took an initiative to offer a program which aims to establish partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) – DepEd Batangas Division to help the learners educate their soul and directly address their immediate developmental needs and combat the negative effects of the pandemic to the heart, mind and soul of each learner.

Retrospect Batang Batangueno aims to maximize Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao learning beyond cognitive skills and competencies, but hand in hand with the psychomotor and affective skills to be practiced in and out of their domiciles. In particular, RBB aims to relive and re-instill in the learners the Filipino values by gradual practice through everyday chores or small deeds given as tasks or challenges. As it will eventually become part of their routines, it will become a habit and, in the long run, it will become their manner and part of their behavior and attitude.
This is basically the rationale of the implementation of Project RBB. A guideline is provided that includes proposed activities for the elementary and junior high school level. As for the senior high school level, it will be anchored to Philosophy subjects, Personality Development, and other subjects that have the same focus. Cuenca Senior High School is in alignment with this program which has been implemented since school year 2020 – 2021. For this school year (2021 – 2022), the school decide to create two separate pages for this purpose, the Cuenca Senior High School Project RBB pages for Grade 11 and Grade 12 wherein two teachers are in-charged. Since there are no specific activities provided for senior high school, it is decided that the activities shall focus on DepEd’s four core values namely MAKADIYOS for Quarter 1, MAKATAO for Quarter 2, MAKAKALIKASAN for Quarter 3, and MAKABANSA for Quarter 4. The challenges are posted on the respective pages each Monday morning so as to give learners enough time to do the tasks. Come Friday , the challenge/task is reposted and a thread for each section is created where learners can post their photos completing the task. Learners are given until 5PM to post their photos. The testimonies are collected every Friday during the retrieval of outputs placed on the subjects where they are anchored. The RBB Coordinator for both Grade levels monitor the posting of the photos for each weekly challenge. The advisers as well as the subject teachers are also informed about the weekly tasks so as to further encourage the learners to participate in each of the weekly task.
The Project RBB and Cuenca Senior High School both aim to produce not only skillful CuenSeHians but also value-laden individuals.
This project contains values strengthened in the curriculum guides and MELCs in the different grade levels. In each quarter, the teacher will give task or challenge every week to their learners, which are achievable within their learning environment.
The task to be given must be simple and executable and to be done in a definite time. The task will be based from the table of values attached. Moreover, they will include this simple task in the Weekly home learning plan as additional assignment for EsP. The evidences can be expressed in writing or visual outputs or in any way suitable for the task. It can be a journal, a picture, a testimony from parents or family members, an fb post, a drawing among others.
In the end of every quarter, the teacher will compile the outputs of the students by grade level in school. The compilation will include some or all testimonies of parents and family members that will reflect the changes happened towards their learners. Testimonies should be the first and last day of the implementation. Also, in the end of the school year, each school can hold a simple activity that will recognize the learners with the biggest breakthrough in their learning environment behavior, domestic or family relationship, attitude and values. These learners can be awarded with the title: ESP Golden Batang Batangueno Awardee (to be awarded in Dangal EsP activity).
