SPECIAL PROGRAM IN SPORTS

SPECIAL CURRICULAR PROGRAM


The Special Program for Sports (SPS) is a special program which shall lay the foundation for a career and/or support to a career for learners with interest, skills and aptitude in Sports. The policies and guidelines to be used in the program are stipulated in DepEd Order No. 25, s.2015. 


Overview

Kalinga National High School (KNHS) is highly motivated to offer a special program for sports that will help the City of Tabuk to scout and develop potential athletes and prepare them for higher meets while developing a love for learning. The school is highly qualified to offer the sports program due to its impressive track record of winning in the different sports competition since its foundation. The school believes that the standard equipment and facilities of the selected sports being offered could be well provided to our potential athletes with the help of our stakeholders who continuously supports in developing the academic and physical aspects of these individuals.

 

Curriculum

The Special Programs for Sports (SPS) offered a four year curriculum based on the K to 12 secondary education program, with specialization in sports.

The school offers a general high school program centred in sports which includes Arnis, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Combative, Gymnastics, and Volleyball. 

 

Admission

A scheduled try-out shall be given to students who have confirmed skills and potentials in more than one of the sports that the school offers. The learner must have participated in any sport competition as attested by the elementary principal or school coach; must pass the physical fitness-sports talent identification, skill tests and oral interview for both the parent and potential athlete; and has a good moral standing from the previous school.
