Health is wealth and life must be protected at all cost, that is why it is very significant to do everything to protect and keep our lives healthy and safe against any untoward incidents that may lead to injury or even death. Most of the time, accidents happen due to recklessness and irresponsibility. People who don't follow the safety precautions always end up getting injured or worse, getting killed. Whether it’s inside the house or in the workplace, exercising safety precautions is a must.
To further instill relevant life skills, the Department of Education (DepEd) has established its guidelines on providing Basic Life Support (BLS) training for basic education learners. DepEd recently issued the Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) for RA 10871 or the “Basic Life Support Training in Schools Act” that covers all public and private basic education schools and institutions, including Alternative Learning Systems (ALS) learning centers. According to former Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis, Briones, “Life support training is a vital life skill that provides students with the knowledge of dealing with medical emergencies. A prompt and appropriate first aid can save a life and empowering our children with this basic skill could mean more lives can be saved in times of emergency or disaster.”
Furthermore, the promotion of hygiene and proper handwashing are basically very significant in promoting health and safety inside the school and in the school community where the participants in the training serve. Having enough know-how on this will also enhance the effective teaching learning process.
