Responsibility is the thing people dread most of all. Yet it is the one thing in the world that develops us, gives us manhood and womanhood fiber (Dr. Frank Crane).
In the past years the whole world was devastated by the pandemic brought about by COVID 19 virus. Philippines is one of the greatly affected counties by this crisis. Many people, especially the parents, lost their jobs and became problematic on how they will provide the needs of their families.
Despite the pandemic the education in the Philippines still push through. Different learning modalities were applied in both private and public schools.
There were a lot of struggles meet by the school administrators, teachers and parents in continuing the education of the children.
In Malacanang National High School it was observed that many of the parents find difficulty in performing their duties and responsibilities with their children that affected the learning outcomes of the latter. The former forgot to perform their parenting skills due to the great challenges on solving their financial issues.
Responsible parenting is not a crime but rather a most valuable tool of our society (Mick Karabegovic). This quote serves as the motivating factor that drives Malacanang National High School to conduct this project to rekindle
the prior aim of parents in raising a happy family and successful children who will become productive members of the society.
Malacanang National High School will promote awareness of parents/guardians about Responsible Parenting in Times of Adversity through one day training in order to enlighten parents/guardians to provide additional knowledge and information on how to become more effective/good parents to their children even in times of misfortunes or hardships brought by the pandemic or any other crisis. A cooking demonstration will also be part of the training to provide parents some tips in preparing economical yet nutritious food/meals at home.
The school will invite speakers/lecturers who are well versed on the topic and a cooking practitioner/expert using indigenous ingredients. And the participants in this project are the 4P’s (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) parents and elder children.
According to Jane D. Hull “At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents.”
