Body Mass Index

BMI (Body Mass Index) is important as it is widely regarded that your chances of having a longer and healthier life are improved if you have a healthy BMI. To identify the percentage of students in the school who are underweight, healthy weight, overweight or obese, these data can be used to monitor the outcomes or to improve the students’ health. Knowing your BMI can help you and your GP to determine any health risks you may face outside of the healthy range. BMI is a useful indicator of health at the school level that’s why BMI is checked regularly by teachers in the school to assess if all learners are at healthy weight.
