A Global Learning Experience (GLE) is a technology-enabled learning experience that is embedded within an existing course and has clear outcomes and deliverables, in which sustained communication and interaction takes place between students from different institutions in different countries. In a course with a GLE component, students engage in academic discussions, collaborative projects, and joint lectures coordinated by the home professor and their international partner.
This short animated video explains the basic concepts of virtual exchange (VE).
In many institutions outside of DePaul, a GLE is also known as virtual exchange (VE) or collaborative online international learning (COIL).
