students design their own research project exploring the rhetoric of gender, race or ethnicity in American identity or a space in which these rhetorics
intersect. Students have access to University of Texas at Austin databases for conducting online research as well as the resources available at their high school. Students write two essays: an annotated bibliography and a researched argument. In these assignments students demonstrate their abilities in selecting and evaluating rhetorical texts, as well as composing them. The final researched argument is an opportunity for students to express their views while demonstrating the skills they have obtained in arrangement, appeals, audience analysis, style and more.
