Note taking… Index Card Style
This is the most time consuming element of your research. You must use OWN your work! This means you take what you read and put it into your OWN words. You may decide to redefine your research questions along the way. Index Card Style uses a number of index cards. You write ONE thought per card. You can write a ‘direct quote’ OR you can paraphrase.
Note the examples given here. You include your bibliographic information on the card for EASY reference. Once you have completed your research, you can EASILY shuffle and organize the cards in a logical sequence according to TOPIC. Instead of index cards, you can use ½ sheets of loose leaf paper!
