Executive Functioning

Executive functioning is a category of skills focusing on organization, word finding, and memory. An SLP may work on: 

• Task initiation, following directions, and task completion

• Time management, organization, and self-regulation

• Working memory

• Problem solving and accepting change

There are other professionals who can target these skills as well, such as an Occupational Therapist or a special education teacher. An SLP may not be on your student's team if these skills are already being taught by someone else to avoid duplicating services.
