AAC
Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) includes any method of communication that may add to or replace verbal speech. This can look like one and/or several of the following:
Body language, facial expression, and sign language
Printed pictures or words that are pointed to and used to help build sentences.
High-tech tablets or devices with a display of words or pictures; most often, these also generate speech.
De Forest Area School District has an Assistive Technology professional that helps collaborate with SLP's, OT's, PT's, and/or student case managers, to address AAC needs for students on an individual basis.
