1:1 Initiatives

1:1 Initiative Overview

Dedham Public Schools started their 1:1 initiative program in 2011 with high school students. As the program expanded, the middle school, then the elementary schools were added to the program. During this time, students in grades 6-12 were able to take their filtered Chromebooks home. In grades 3-5, students had Chromebook carts in each of their classrooms with their name on it. These Chromebooks remained in the classroom. Students in grades 1-2 had sets of Chromebooks and sets of iPads. During the pandemic of 2020, the district rolled out a district wide 1:1 program for all students, including Kindergarten. Using this model, all students were able to have equitable access, at home and at school.

When life gets back to normal, decisions will be made regarding the 1:1 initiative taking into consideration the most appropriate needs of the students. In this ever changing world, we continue to provide equipment which allows us to meet our 1:1 initiative goals and provide the highest level of service and committment to our students and the community we serve.
