Sara Pakosta - High School & Community Volunteer Reference
To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing in reference for Mia Maechtel. I have had the pleasure of interacting with her as a mentor for younger athletes, as well as an athlete in both hockey and lacrosse.
Mia is a gifted athlete and student. She puts determination and heart in to every task she undertakes. She has become an integral part of the Lady Blue Knights lacrosse program as well as the Clarington Flames Girls Hockey Association. She is a committed teammate, encouraging her fellow athletes to give their best effort. Mia’s attendance at events is impeccable, which greatly complements her leadership skills. She is able to manage the many demands of multiple rep sports, school work, and her leadership ventures with ease.
My daughter and Mia were paired together last hockey season as Mentee-Mentor. I was beyond impressed with Mia’s maturity and ability to interact with my daughter as her mentor. She always made it a priority to seek out my daughter and check in with her. Mia attended games and events and created a positive, mentor relationship, helping foster my daughter’s love for the sport of hockey. Both Mia and my daughter enjoyed the relationship so much that they continued to work together after the hockey season ended; working out together and practicing their lacrosse skills. During the summer months, Mia went out of her way to attend voluntary on field sessions with my daughter to further promote their strong relationship. The girls would send videos of skills they were working on, and Mia provided my daughter with ideas of skills to work on.
Mia is a young lady with huge potential as a role model. She demonstrates confidence and responsibility in all that she does, and I have seen firsthand, that she encourages younger girls to do the same thing. She behaves in a courteous manner towards adults, respecting what they have to say, and carrying on mature conversations.
It is with great pleasure that I write in reference to Mia Maechtel. I can honestly say that I hope my daughters grow up to be as strong, resilient and determined as she is. I believe that she will become a positive force in all future endeavors. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Sara Pakosta
