Indigeneity

While there are many Indigenous cultures globally, in this course we focus on the experiences of three specific peoples – the Aborigines of Australia, the Indigenous Tribes of the Amazonian Rainforest, and the First Nations Peoples of Canada.

In each activity you will be given an inquiry question to direct your exploration. Using this as a guide, you and your classmates will engage an inquiry-based process to delve into further explorations and investigations on issues related to indigeneity. You will also create personal inquiry questions that will guide your own work for the summative task for each activity – a “micro-social action initiative” that aims to answer the question: What can I do to make a real difference, and respond effectively to issues of social injustice and inequity as they relate to indigeneity?
