This is a new scheme, funded by the Scottish Government in a bid to address the digital educational divide in communities across Scotland. In Dundee we are investing our allocation of funds in the HP Probook X360 and, for families where access to broadband internet is a problem, we can provide a Vodaphone MiFi device. The X360 is a combined laptop/tablet device which is managed by our IT team and provides access to Glow, DCC services and software. It is a robust machine, especially built for the schools market. It can be used in school and at home, or on any Wifi hotspot. Our managed systems continue to keep young people safe online. For example, the internet is filtered just as it is in school buildings.
We took our first delivery of the devices in early September 2020 and we are currently prioritising senior secondary pupils who risk disrupting their education due to the Coronavirus situation. Your child's school has been asked to bid for these devices. Priority will always be given to where there are higher levels of deprivation. Your child's Head Teacher can advise you if you would like to know more about this.

Some of the laptops have come equipped with both the Glow and DundeeSchools versions of Office 365 installed. This confuses the PC, especially when trying to open Teams! You might see an error message or see none of your Teams at all.
