Douglasville, GA – The Douglas County Lady Tigers volleyball team showcased grit and determination this week, competing in a series of tightly contested matches that highlighted their resilience and growth on the court.
Match Results:
Lost to Rockmart – 1–2
Defeated Cedartown – 2–1
Lost to Haralson County – 1–2
Defeated Creekside – 2–0
Defeated Drew Charter – 2–0
Lost to Weber – 1–2
The Lady Tigers came away with three wins and three narrow defeats, with four of the six matches going to decisive third sets. Their straight-set victories over Creekside and Drew Charter demonstrated the team’s ability to control momentum and execute with confidence.
Head Coach Hornberger praised the team’s effort, saying, “We’re competing hard every match. Even in our losses, the girls are showing improvement and fighting until the last point. These close games are preparing us for the rest of the season.”
DCHS Girls Volleyball Falls to East Paulding and Bremen
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The Douglas County High School Lady Tigers volleyball team faced a challenging outing, dropping matches to both East Paulding and Bremen.
In the first match, the Lady Tigers fell to East Paulding 0–2, struggling to overcome the Raiders’ strong offensive attack. In their second match of the day, Douglas County battled hard but ultimately came up short against Bremen, also by a 0–2 score.
Head Coach Kelli Hornberger remains optimistic: “These early-season matches are all about finding our rhythm and building team chemistry. We’ll take what we learned today and get better every time we step on the court.”
The Lady Tigers will regroup and prepare for their next set of matches on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 looking to bounce back and put a win in the column.
Douglas County Girls Volleyball Splits Tough Matchups on Thursday, Gains Momentum for Upcoming Games
Douglasville, GA – August 12, 2025 – The Douglas County High School Tigers Varsity Girls Volleyball team took the court last Thursday with mixed results: they secured a strong 2–0 victory over Osborne High School at home but fell short in a hard-fought 1–2 loss to South Cobb High School later that same evening.

Douglas County vs. Osborne (Home)
The Tigers dominated from the start with a convincing 25–8, 25–20 win. Highlights included standout performances from Omaha’s defense and offense, though individual stats weren't detailed.
Douglas County vs. South Cobb (Home, same day)
In a tightly contested battle, the Tigers fell 1–2 to South Cobb. After dropping the first set 20–25, Douglas County bounced back in the second with a 27–25 win, only to fall in a decisive third-set tiebreaker 8–15.
These outcomes improve the Tigers’ early-season record to 1–1. While the team demonstrated grit and depth, back-to-back matches exposed areas for strategic adjustment and endurance improvement.
