Douglas County Tigers Prevail in Preseason Scrimmage, Set Sights on Season Opener at Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Douglasville, GA – August 8, 2025 – The Douglas County High School Tigers opened their 2025 football campaign with a hard-fought 17-10 preseason scrimmage victory over the Rome Wolves on the road Friday night.

The Tigers showcased a balanced attack and a stingy defense in their final tune-up before the regular season. Key plays included a 40-yard touchdown run by Senior RB #6 Ra'keith Kelly.

“This was a great test for us against a strong Rome program,” said Coach Johnny White, head coach of the Tigers. “Our players showed grit and composure, and we’re excited to build on this momentum heading into the regular season.”

Next up, the Tigers will open the season under the bright lights of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta as part of the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic, taking on powerhouse North Gwinnett. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

“Our kids are fired up for the opportunity to compete in one of the best venues in the country,” Coach Johnny White added. “It’s going to be a tremendous experience for our program and community.”
