Hello,
I'm Ms. Kacee Theis. I’m beyond excited to be your 5th grade teacher this school year! This will be my sixth year teaching elementary education, I’ve survived the glitter explosions and missing marker cap mysteries for half a decade now!
I was born and raised in the wild, wonderful town of Laramie, Wyoming, where I learned to appreciate big open skies, cowboy coffee, and learned that snow boots can go with just about everything. Even after growing up in the Wyoming cold, I’m always chilly, so don’t be surprised if you see me wrapped in a blanket or wearing a winter coat, even when it’s warm outside! I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming; Go Pokes! And my Master’s in Curriculum Design & Instruction from Grand Canyon University; Go Lopes!
When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll probably find me exploring the great outdoors; hiking, fishing, or camping with my trusty sidekick Lenox the Golden Retriever. I enjoy laughing with friends and family, reading thriller novels at Wash park, or just soaking up sunshine and positive vibes.
I’m also a huge fan of Disney movies, especially The Lion King (Hakuna Matata forever) and Ratatouille (because yes, anyone can cook… even a rat). I love attending concerts and sporting events, beating my friends at Pop-A-Shot basketball, shopping at the mall, decorating for Christmas, perfecting my snowboarding skills, and indulging in my not-so-secret obsession: pickles. That’s right...I’m a pickle connoisseur, and proud of it! 🥒
I can’t wait to learn, grow, and have a blast with all of you this year. Let’s make it the most unforgettable 5th grade adventure yet!
About my teaching philosophy:
My vision for your student's education is to build an inclusive, enriching, and productive learning community that equips all students with the social, emotional, and cognitive skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. I hope to expand equity by giving every child access to a safe and caring environment, as well as rigorous core instruction, that empowers learners to speak their mind and blossom into empathetic, accepting, and respectful individuals.
The impact that I want to have is….
Making sure that students know they are all welcome, valued and most importantly, loved! I want to instill positive learning experiences that motivate students to grow into becoming compassionate, independent, and empathetic human beings. I hope to inspire students to strive for success and work towards self-improvement with a smile.
In my classroom that will look like….
An inclusive, supportive, and collaborative community that takes ownership in their mistakes and uses them as opportunities to grow. I will encourage learners to have a growth mindset and to try and look at the positive during challenging situations. I will foster empathy and respect, so students feel supported and safe in their learning environment to engage in lessons, conversations and overcome hardships with confidence.
Smiling because...Italy!
My family and I enjoying the California sunshine.
