Your student will visit the library as a Double Special with their class once every three weeks for the 2024-2025 school year. During this time, we will learn how to use the library and find information and books. Students will also have the opportunity to check out books that can be brought home.
Library Catalog
Destiny Discover is the name of our library catalog. In Destiny Discover, students can find our print resources, eBooks, audiobooks, links to our online resources, collections and more. Students will learn to use the catalog to search for the books and information. After clicking the above Destiny Discover link, click Stone Mountain under Elementary Schools.
By logging in to Destiny Discover with their Google Single Sign-On, students can see the books they have checked out and can place items on hold.
Circulation Guidelines
In most cases, books are due 3 weeks from the check out date.
A book may be renewed for an additional 3 weeks if no one else is waiting for it. The book can only be renewed if it's brought into the library.
The number of books that can be checked out at one time varies by grade level:
Kindergarteners: 1 book
First and second graders: 2 books
Third grade: We start with two books and then talk about checking out the number of books for which you can be responsible.
Fourth through sixth graders: 5 books
Parents and students will receive overdue notice emails at least once a month.
The library does not charge overdue fees, but does charge replacement fees for books that are missing or have been damaged beyond repair. Examples are books that have been chewed by dogs, books with multiple pages ripped out, and books with any water damage.
Once a book is overdue for 6 months, it is marked as LOST and the replacement fee will show up in MySchoolBucks. If the book is found in good condition before the replacement fee is paid, the replacement fee will canceled. If the book is found after paying the fee, feel free to add the book to your personal collection as we are not able to offer refunds.
Please contact Mrs. Deeter if you have any questions at sdeeter@dcsdk12.org.
