Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the SME Learning Commons! I am so excited to be your school librarian this year and wanted to tell you a little about myself. This is my 7th year at Stone Mountain! Previously, I was a children's librarian in public libraries for 15 years, conducting story times and literacy-based programs for children and teens, and providing readers' advisory for children and adults. I live in Highlands Ranch with my husband, Matt and my two kids, Sebastian and Sydney.
I grew up in Kansas City, MO and went to college at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA where I studied elementary education and history. Since then, I've lived in New Hampshire, Delaware, and most recently Pennsylvania. In PA, I attended the University of Pittsburgh to study Library and Information Science. I moved to Colorado with my family 10 years ago, and we love living here with the beautiful mountains and skies.
I LOVE books, and I LOVE finding information. I believe books have a way of transporting you to places and giving you experiences you could never imagine. Books allow you to see the world through someone else's eyes. Here in the SME Library, we'll focus on how to find books that are right for us at the right time. We will also focus on information literacy, the ability to figure out the information that is needed and how to locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information.
