Summer through October of Fall Semester
Marching Band Schedule
Our Color Guard Club meets during the summer and at the beginning of the school year. We perform at halftime during home football games and travel with the marching band to our own competitions.
Members will learn the basics of this sport of the arts. Beginning techniques and skills will be taught with both the equipment and by moving their bodies through dance and rhythm as we visually intrepet the music from the marching band.
Members will learn beginning movement and dance, touching on contemporary ballet and lyrical. Training will focus on learning expression through dance, flexibility, strength, and control. We will focus on matching rhythm and movements to a variety of music and styles.
All club members will learn to spin flag. More advanced members will explore auxiliary equipment with rifles and sabres. We will learn basic spinning exercises and learn how to toss and catch the equipment. We will be focusing on timing the equipment with music while moving and how to maintain synchronization with the other members.
All members are encouraged to practice at home to improve on these challenging skills. They will be given the opportunity to check out a flag from the school to bring home to practice. Members will join a Google Classroom for instructional videos and photos to guide their learning.
Those who enjoy color guard and marching will have the opportunity to join Winter Guard where they will have competitive performances at shows sponsored by RMCGA.
