Once a student is identified as gifted, an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) is created for that student. This is a living document which may be amended at any time. The creation of an ALP is a collaborative effort between the student, teachers, parents/guardians, and GT facilitator.
ALPs are written at the beginning of each school year and contain both an academic and an affective (social-emotional) goal.
Students have an academic goal for each area in which they are identified.
Academic goals are aligned with Colorado State Standards.
The National Association for Gifted Children uses 5 areas of competence to break down affective goal areas: Personal Competence, Communication Competence, Leadership Competence, Cultural Competence, Social Competence.
Progress toward ALP goals is monitored and reported through regular communication channels aligned with school progress monitoring timelines.
