BIG NEWS MHE Families!
Mammoth Heights has expanded our Support Staff!!
Let's give a warm welcome to the newest addition to our MHE Counseling Team!
Welcome!
I'm Jessica Weiss (Ms. Weiss) and I'm honored to be serving as the school counselor at Mammoth Heights Elementary!
A little about me
This is my fourth year as the school counselor at Mammoth Heights Elementary. I love to bake, spend time with my family, and be outside enjoying all that Colorado nature has to offer. I am a National Board Certified Counselor and have a Master's Degree in school counseling. Being a school counselor is my calling and I am incredibly fortunate to say that I LOVE what I do!
As the school counselor
I am a part of our Essentials Classes rotation teaching students social and academic skills as well as introducing them to career and interest exploration. Please check out our newsletters to see what your student is learning about each month! I also lead small, short-term skill building groups and meet with individual students to help with more personalized topics such as friendship skills, managing emotions, conflict resolution, changing families, or grief recovery. I am unable to offer long-term therapeutic services to students, however, if you have any concerns please don't hesitate to reach out!
Contact
Please feel free to reach out to me by email or phone with any needs, questions, or concerns. I look forward to getting to know you and your students!

Welcome!
I am Danny Burleigh and I am privileged to be one of the school counselors at Mammoth Heights Elementary.
A little about me
I have been a teacher for nine years, five of them at Mammoth Heights (some of your students might remember me in 4th Grade). I have always been passionate about the lives of the students I teach, so I am excited to be transitioning into the role of school counselor this year. I have a masters degree in culturally and linguistically diverse education, a Doctorate of Education in educational leadership, and am currently earning my Masters in School Counseling. I love spending time with my wife, Courtney, and our three girls, Adeline, Evelyn, and Macy.
As the school counselor
I will be teaching a class that is a part of the weekly Essentials rotation for your students. They will receive instruction in executive functioning skills such as emotional regulation, organization, planning, and skills that focus on thoughts, actions, and emotions to achieve their goals. I will also be meeting with individual students and groups to help with conflict resolution, friendship skills, or individual needs to help best access their education in the classroom and their social well being with peers.

The Essential Role of Elementary School Counselors
At Mammoth Heights, we use DCSD approved curriculums Sources of Strength to help our students build their sense of community inside and outside of school as well as identify, utilize, and grow the many strengths and skills they have.
