Program Overview:

All of our Photography and Graphic Design students receive a personal Adobe CC subscription for the year that they can access at school and at home.

Our Graphic Design program is a multi-level pathway that begins with courses that focus specifically on Adobe design software, Illustrator and Photoshop. These courses lead from a digital software focus into a more design-centered curriculum that is meant to flow like a professional design project with assignment parameters and design goals in which the students will work through their own design process to establish and execute their creative solutions. Students will create and maintain a personal online digital portfolio of their digital design artwork that they can continue with throughout the course

Our Photography program at HRHS is also a multi-level course that combines a focus on professional technical camera skills and lighting along with a creative approach to planning and design for photography that is often overlooked. Students encounter Photography as both a career path and as a creative art form that can be challenging and rewarding. In Level one our focus is on learning about our fully manual dslr cameras and lenses while also developing primary digital skills in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. While we have cameras so that every student will have an opportunity to fully engage in the professional camera skillset we also highly encourage motivated students to provide their own camera if they are interested in taking multiple levels on this program. This allows them to become fully comfortable with their own equipment rather than rentals we can provide for them.
