Cosmetology

Program Overview: Highlands Ranch High School provides a comprehensive, modern Cosmetology program with up-to-date technology, equipment, and instruction. Students will complete two years of study in hair, nail technician, and esthetician and finish the program with their state Cosmetology license. Upon completion, students will be workforce ready and prepared to enter the various jobs that a cosmetology certification will allow.

How to apply:

Attend a required information session. For the 25/26 school year, the Info Session is January 16th, 2025 from 5:30-6:30 for students in Highlands Ranch, and from 6:30-7:30 for students who live in Parker, Castle Rock, or anywhere else. This will be held in the HRHS Auditorium. If you were unable to attend the open house, we have recorded a video that you can watch to get the information.
Complete the registration process for Off-Campus Programs at your home school (each school does it differently).
Fill out the Bellisimo Blu Student Application.
Ask your high school counselor to complete the Counselor Recommendation Form on your behalf.

Mark Mitchell:

I have been a cosmetologist for the past 38 years, Cosmetology has been all I have wanted to pursue since I was 12, I grew up outside of Boston. I come from a large family, 8 sisters and 2 brothers.

I have worked in many states including Oregon, North Carolina, and most of New England. I am still working in the salon as well as teaching. I believe that keeping current in the field is very important. I am an avid music fan and collector, Music is always part of the day in the cosmo class. I am thrilled to be part of the Highlands Ranch family.

Cosmetology Classes

Year 1: ACC Cosmetology I & 2 - In year one you will learn the basics of cosmetology. The fun begins with receiving your kit, all the fun tools that you will use to build your success in the Cosmo class. Then it's on to Scalp care, Hair styling, Haircutting, Hair color , Perming, Manicure and Pedicures along with facials and waxing. Theory and hands on preparing you for year two.

Year 2: ACC Cosmetology 3 & 4 - In year two it's time to advance with more Color, Cutting, Styling, Acrylic nails, Gel nails, Highlighting, State board prep and much more. Once you have completed the program including all your required hours you will be help in scheduling your state board exam.
