Component A: Vision and Goals
The library staff develops the library program vision in partnership with the school community and creates school-aligned goals that include a professional learning plan and strategies for marketing library resources and programming. The library staff organizes and facilitates a library engagement team to annually review library goals and data and share input and ideas for improving the library program. The library engagement team is a group of school community members who are supporters of the library program and may include school administrators, classroom teachers, students or parents.
Component A - Evidence
Castle View High School is actively working towards creating formalized vision that includes an engagement team and strategies for implementation. While these components have been taking place informally for some time, the documents below demonstrate my professional goals for the 24/25 school year and the library's annual resource and programming plan for the 24/25 year. The engagement team is being identifies and will begin with an end of year survey as well as an in person meeting at the beginning of the 25/26 school year where an updated plan for the 25/26 school year will be created.
Personal Learning
Our team works throughout the year to improve ourselves and the services we provide to our school community. Some ways in which I personally contribute and continue to learn include:
Reading materials taught in our English classes. This year I read the following books:
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram
The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan
Shark Heart by Emily Habeck
Yellowface by R.F. Kuang.
Atomic Habits by James Clear
Attending Paid Development days hosted by the District Library Media Center (11/1/2024 and 4/28/2025)
Complete the Canvas Administrator Course (in progress)
Library Plans and Goals
This year I also worked to formalize our goals and annual plans in collaboration with our Teacher Librarian, Gretchen Stulock, and my counterpart Library Assistant, Abbi Bay. Since our team works so collaboratively together, I changed the Annual Library Growth plan to fit my personal goals. We then worked together to create an Annual Resource and Programming Library Plan that includes our Engagement Committee and a SWOT analysis. The thought is this will be used by our Teacher Librarian each year to pair with administrative building goals and multi year plans that take place at a higher level.

Annual Library Survey Responses
Each year we send out an Annual Library Survey. This year we focused on recruiting committee members and asking important questions about the direction and goals of the library. We will take this data to our meeting at the beginning of the year to map out new initiatives and programming ideas. Below is a sample of responses from staff and students.
Which of these initiatives are most exciting to you? Select your top 3.
