My job as an ELD teacher is rewarding on a professional level. Working with every grade level encompasses my previous teaching experience. I began my teaching career as a middle school social studies / English teacher and then became an elementary reading teacher after returning from Switzerland to the States. This position led to being a kindergarten and a first grade classroom teacher.
I love working at Fox Creek with the unique characteristics of every grade level, from kindies through sixth graders.
The impact that I want to have is that students know how much I respect their unique personalities and how their skill of being multilingual is a remarkable accomplishment. I want them to be proud of their skill and know that being multilingual is a gift to be celebrated. Their skill opens the entire world to them for future careers. In my classroom we take time to discuss the joys and challenges of speaking two languages. My classroom is a place where students’ strengths are celebrated and areas of growth are met head on with perseverance and determination.

My job as the ELD (English Language Development) teacher is such a joy on a personal level. My husband Doug, and I lived in beautiful Switzerland for eleven years. Our son, Andre, and daughter, Danielle, were born in Basle and still feel a close connection to it.
Living a multicultural life is important to us. Doug works with international universities on their business school accreditation. Andre taught English for one year in China and another year in Korea. Danielle has spent five summers working at a school in Haiti. We enjoy celebrating the rich traditions of our multicultural world.
Doug and I combine our favorite hobbies of learning about different cultures and hiking. We have visited over 50 countries and always include long hikes in the places we visit.
