The English Language Development Program celebrates the gift and skill of multilingualism. The program provides different levels of English Language Support depending on the needs of the individual student. This support varies from individual instruction on a daily basis, co-teaching with the classroom teacher, or regular check-ins with the student.
Fox Creek includes multilingual families celebrations through several activities throughout the year.
Parents are welcome to attend a weekly 30 minute informal meeting with the ELD teacher to ask questions about the school academics and activities. This is also a wonderful time for parents to visit with each other.
There is an after school reading program when older ELD students read with a younger student once a week. Students show Fox Creek’s Habits of Character of courage, respect, contribution, integrity, perseverance, cooperation, and compassion. Their cooperation is recognized at a pizza party in December and their perseverance is celebrated with a pinata party at the end of the year. Parents are welcome to attend these events.
One of the special traditions is the end of the year ELD celebration. Families enjoy an informal dinner while watching individual students share a special song, dance, or musical number that is important to their families’ cultural heritage.
