EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I believe in independence and the importance of choice, movement, play, thinking strategies, and natural consequences. I believe in building strong relationships with each student in order to know how they learn best and build deep relationships with each student. The impact that I want to have is to inspire my students to be lifelong learners that are curious about the world around them. I believe in providing authentic learning experiences and caring for the mind and heart of every child. I understand that every student learns differently and I honor the individuality of every learner in my classroom. My goal is that every child will feel confident to be themselves, feel included, and willing to take risks or try new things.

I grew up in Highlands Ranch and went to Douglas County Schools K-12. When I graduated I spent a couple years at CSU before transferring into the education program at UNC. I graduated UNC with a Bachelors degree in Education and an endorsement to teach English as a Second Language.

COLLEGES

University of North Carolina Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Education with an English as a Second Language endorsement

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Hello my name is Kelsey Torres. I am ready to take on this year with you and your child!! I am excited to be back in Highlands Ranch and loving the town that I grew up in. This will be my 6th year teaching at Fox Creek. I have spent my time in Kindergarten and 1st Grade and I absolutely love this age of curiosity and joy. I truly believe I have the best job in the world.

On the weekends you can find me spending time with my family. My husband, Miguel and I live in Parker. We love to garden, cook, and go outside with our three fur babies. We have two Golden Retrievers - Layce(4) and Jasper(9), and a french bulldog(5) - Louie. Our family loves to travel together. Our latest trip was to Zion National Park this summer!
