At Eldorado, we base our decision to flex students on multiple criteria: iReady math data, classroom performance, critical thinking skills and more.
We teach math at a universal time so students can "flex up" to the next grade level for math. In 6th grade students complete a condensed version of 7th and 8th grade math, in preparation for Algebra as 7th graders, placing then two years beyond their peers.
At any time during a student's Elementary career, if we feel that flexing is no longer the best placement for a student we will have a conference to discuss options.
It is important to understand the long range trajectory through high school. Please view this Math Acceleration Slide Presentation to learn more.
