How to take the Practice Tests:
If you are under 17 or have an IEP, you MUST take your GED Practice Tests either in person at the GED Center or with a proctor at school.
It's best to take your Practice Tests in as "test-like" an environment as possible, so try to find a distraction free room and a quiet space.
Take each test subject in one sitting.
Put away your phone while you take each test in order to eliminate distraction and best reflect your knowledge and ability to manage the time it takes to do each practice test.
Length of test varies, you can take them in ANY order:
Science (45 minutes)
Mathematics (60 minutes)
Part 1 – calculator not allowed; Part 2 – calculator allowed
The math test includes a link to a formula button within the test, which can be helpful: GED Math Formula Sheet (you can also print it out)
Only use a calculator on the calculator section of the math test.
Social Studies (38 minutes)
Reasoning through Language Arts (78 minutes)
Please review these guidelines to understand what your scores mean: Practice Test Score Breakdown
After completion of the Practice Tests, you will be connected with the GED Team to schedule your GED Orientation.
Our Re-Engagement Specialist for the GED will meet with you for your GED Orientation meeting and create your individualized tutoring and testing plan!
When you are ready to take any of the final GED tests, the Re-Engagement Specialist for the GED will schedule each of your final GED Tests
Each test will be scheduled as a single appointment. We do NOT recommend scheduling more than one test in a day.
IF you pass all four practice tests, the GED Testing Service might offer the option for you test online through GED. However, we STRONGLY recommend you to call and test in-person at our testing center in order to have the best testing environment. Additionally, testing online will cost additional money for the GED to proctor the test virtually.
Tests are scheduled by appointment only. Length of tests varies:
Science (90 minutes)
Mathematics (120 minutes) Part 1 – calculator not allowed; Part 2 – calculator allowed
Social Studies (75 minutes)
Reasoning through Language Arts (155 minutes)
When you are finished with all four tests, you will be able to receive a diploma through Diploma Sender.
You are also eligible to participate in a graduation ceremony through the Douglas County Libraries.
They are offered access a Re-engagement Specialist from the Student Assistance Department for next steps/post-secondary planning.
Please do not show up to the Tutoring Center without prior arrangement with a member of the DCSD GED Center. For questions, please contact Cory Clopton, our At-Risk Teacher and Tutoring Center Lead. All tutoring is by appointment ONLY, scheduled by staff.
