The DCSD GED Center will be closed March 16-20th for Spring Break!!
NOTE: The rate of completion for any student will depend on the amount of work you are willing to commit to outside of tutoring.
You have a good grasp of the information needed to pass the GED test. A calculator review, a review of the math formula sheet, and having someone review your essay may increase your score. A 200 is a perfect score.
The staff strongly recommends at least 4 tutoring sessions (2 weeks) based on your score report and then the staff will evaluate if you are ready to test.
The tutors will work with you on the non-calculator part of the test, the math formula sheet and calculator review as well as provide materials on other subject areas.
In addition, go to the GED website and click on the “study” tab for valuable information about the tests.
We recommend that you come to at least 8-10 tutoring sessions (4-6 weeks) based on your score reports and the staff will re-evaluate if you are ready to test.
In addition to time with a tutor, we suggest that you work at least 30 minutes per day on your own reviewing materials from your tutor.
It is beneficial to work with a tutor before you take your first test. After working with a tutor, you can retake the practice test to ensure that you are ready to test.
The tutor will use your personalized score reports to determine the content they will cover with you. We have specific tutors for specific subject areas.
Students in this range should plan on coming to tutoring at least twice a week and working on their own.
In addition to time with a tutor, we suggest that you work at least 30 minutes per day on your own reviewing materials from your tutor.
We have online classes through Edgenuity and use GED Flash to increase understanding of the material in the GED.
If you score below a 140, plan on 6-8 months of tutoring to complete your GED.
Learning gaps would need to be addressed before GED would be a viable graduation option.
