The goal of our Running Club is to give students the opportunity to start their day with movement and energy! We aim to encourage healthy habits by helping students discover and enjoy a lifelong physical activity—running or walking. It's been such a fun and positive way to kick off the school week!
Running and walking offer many health benefits:
🏃♂️ Build and tone muscles
💪 Improve overall fitness
🌞 Set a positive tone for the day!
During Running Club, students practice important fitness concepts like pacing, running form, and managing their energy while moving. To keep students motivated, they earn toe tokens—small, colorful charms—for every mile they complete! Each student also receives a necklace to display their collection throughout the season.
Here’s what a typical Running Club morning looks like:
Warm-Up Game: We begin with a fun game of tag to get our bodies moving.
Dynamic Stretching: Our 6th-grade leaders guide the group through stretches to prepare for running.
Running Time: Students run laps on a course set up on the field for about 25–30 minutes.
Toe Token Awards: We wrap up by recognizing students with their earned tokens for the day!
Running Club is open to all 3rd–6th grade students. We’ve found that the physical stamina needed for sustained running makes these grades the best fit for participation.
I can’t wait to see your student on the field—let’s run into the day with energy, excitement, and fun!
