Welcome to Physical Education!
I believe Physical Education is a vital component of the total school curriculum. It is the only subject specifically focused on helping children develop and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. My goal this year is to introduce your child to a wide variety of physical skills in a positive and supportive environment. Through these experiences, I hope to build their confidence and encourage them to find physical activities they enjoy and may want to pursue outside of class.
In Physical Education, students will have the opportunity to express creativity, use their imagination, and explore their individuality through movement. I believe all students should feel empowered to grow personally and physically in our class.
This year, I will be teaching a skills theme-based curriculum. Students will begin by learning basic motor and fundamental movement skills, which we will then apply to more complex games and sequences. At the elementary level, it is essential for children to develop competence in these foundational skills. These skills serve as the building blocks for lifelong physical activity and fitness. When children feel confident in their physical abilities, they are more likely to stay active and engaged throughout their lives.
I’m looking forward to a fantastic year working with both you and your child! If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Together, we can instill in students a lifelong appreciation for physical activity—for both health and enjoyment!
