The course is 100% examination.
The GCSE is made up of 3 papers. Each paper lasts 1h 30 mins. Two of them are calculator papers. The other non-calculator.
Each paper makes up 33.3% of the final GCSE grade. The grades are 1 – 9.
GCSE maths has a foundation tier (Grades 1 - 5) and a Higher Tier (Grades 4 - 9).
Students have to take all 3 papers at the same tier. The mathematical demand tends to increase as the students progress through the paper.

A scientific calculator (there is no obligation to replace the old casio version with a new one), pencil, ruler, pair of compasses, protractor and rubber. We sell exam packs with all necessary equipment (excluding calculators)

A GCSE in maths is often required for the entry into the majority of post-16 courses.
It is now a government requirement that students who do not have a grade 4 in GCSE maths continue studying towards a maths qualification post-16. Some universities are requesting a grade 5 as a pass.
Some universities will also request a grade 6 or higher for courses such as psychology and business as well as the more obvious maths based courses such as engineering and the sciences.
