At KS5 we have three courses on offer; OCR A Level PE, OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate and OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma. Further information on each course can be found below.

5x Grade 4s or above at GCSE or equivalent
Grade 6 or above in GCSE PE
Must participate in sport outside of school.

Non-exam assessment: Practical performance in physical activity and sport

Students assessed as a performer or coach in the full sided version of one activity.
Plus:
written/verbal analysis of performance.

Students who have not studied GCSE PE, but would like to take this course, will be considered on an individual basis.
Program of Course
Diploma
This is a two-year course made up of 720 guided learning hours.
You will study 11 units, 6 units in Year 12, and 5 in Year 13. There are 9 mandatory units and 2 optional. The Diploma provides a broad basis of study for the sport sector, but his focused towards a sports coaching route. The course can lead to Higher education as part of a program of study, which includes other vocational or general subjects such as other Cambridge Technicals, BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
What Topics Will I Be Studying?
In Year 12 you will study:
Unit 1 - Body Systems and the effects of physical activity
Unit 2 - Sports Coaching and Activity Leadership
Unit 4 - Working Safely in Sport, Exercise, Health and Leisure
Unit 5 - Performance analysis
Unit 13- Health and Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
In Year 13 you will potentially study the following:
Unit 3 - Sports Organisation and Development (Compulsory)
Unit 17 - Sports injuries and rehabilitation
Unit 18 - Practical skills in sport and physical activities
Unit 8- Organising sports events
Unit 11 Physical activity for Specific Groups
Extended Certificate
Program of Course
This is a two-year course made up of 360 guided learning hours.
You will study 5 units, 2 units in Year 12, and 3 in Year 13. There are 3 mandatory units and 2 optional. The extended certificate provides a broad basis of study for the sport sector. The course can lead to Higher education as part of a program of study, which includes other vocational or general subjects such as other Cambridge Technicals, BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
