Soundtrack for a Revolution

Soundtrack for a Revolution tells the story of the American civil rights movement through its powerful music. Freedom songs that evolved from chants sung by enslaved Africans, workers within the labor movement, and especially the Black church were central to the fight for justice and equality. Featuring luminaries such as John Lewis, Andrew Young, and lesser-known leaders of the movement, "Soundtrack for a Revolution" examines the campaign for African American equality in the South through lunch-counter sit-ins, bus boycotts, marches, and mass arrests -- and pairs each action with a song The film features new performances of the freedom songs by top artists, gripping archival footage, and interviews with civil rights figures.
